Toyota GT86 in a really lightweight version

The Festival of Speed in the UK's Goodwood is an annual display of the best and fastest cars on the planet. The Japanese Toyota will not be absent this year either, whose biggest novelty will be the lightweight GT86 TRD Griffon Project .

Visitors saw this model for the first time at this year's Tokyo Motor Show , which took place in January. However, the model will be available to the general public only now at Goodwood. And Toyota stuck to the basic philosophy when creating this coupe – weight is more than performance .

Therefore, the serial version of the 200-horsepower four-cylinder gasoline engine remains under the hood. The magic of the model lies in the weight – it was reduced by less than 227 kg to the final 1048 kg. And that's excellent value.

The most important elements that make the coupe lighter are the carbon hood, doors, roof, trunk lid and rear wing. The diffuser, front bumper and side wings on it are made of plastic that is reinforced with carbon . To make the work perfect, the windows are made of polycarbonate instead of glass.

Inside, the GT86 received a sports driver's seat with Takata belts , a special shifter head, a water temperature and oil pressure indicator, or a Momo sports steering wheel. Under the jacket, modified technology is hidden, led by a mechanical self-locking differential, an adjustable chassis, a shortened sixth gear and new eighteen-inch wheels with Yokohama Advan tires .
