Three new concepts from Mitsubishi

In early October, Mitsubishi dropped the first teaser of what we'll see at its stand in Tokyo . Today, less than three weeks before the opening of the exhibition, the car company with three diamonds decided to reveal its trump cards.

The car with the greatest probability of mass production is apparently the large crossover GC-PHEV , which could replace the old Pajero in the course of a few years. Its design is in the style of the brand's latest concepts, and even under the body, it is a car that goes with the times. The drive is provided by a turbocharged six-cylinder petrol engine in combination with an electric motor, the batteries of which can be recharged from the normal mains. An eight-speed automatic transmission takes care of the transmission of unspecified power to all.

A little smaller is the compact crossover XR-PHEV , which, like most competitors, offers only all-wheel drive. Under the hood is a plug-in hybrid powertrain consisting of a MIVEC gasoline eleven , an electric motor and high-capacity batteries. The advantage of the XR-PHEV is its compact dimensions and low weight, making the model nimble enough for city operation .

The latest concept, the Concept AR , reveals the possible future form of the next generation compact MPV with three diamonds. As stated by the automaker itself, the Concept AR offers the handling of an SUV and the space of an MPV. The drive is provided by the same powertrain as in the case of the XR-PHEV crossover, and the body design is similarly rendered.

All three models are equipped with safety technologies collectively known as e-Assist7 and the latest generation of on-board information system . In addition to the new concepts, the kei car eK Space will also experience its world premiere in Tokyo.
