This year's Brno Autosalon has been cancelled

This year's edition of the once famous Brno Autosalon was canceled due to low interest from car companies. After several years of decline, we will not see the largest domestic car exhibition at all.

The management of Veletrhy Brno as , together with the SDA (Association of Automobile Importers) agreed last year that Autosalon Brno will only be held with the participation of at least 17-20 major car brands . This goal was not achieved. BVV General Director Jiří Kuliš commented on this decision: "The current situation on the passenger car market does not allow organizing the full-fledged Autosalon that visitors expect."

The organizers thus avoided the situation from last year, when only three importers took part in the Autosalon – Skoda, Hyundai and Ford. The rest of the car companies were not present at all or only through local dealers .

In its heyday, i.e. around the beginning of the new century , all important car manufacturers regularly appeared in Brno and there were also world premieres – in 2003, for example, BMW showed the new 5 Series here, and in 2007 we saw the Seat Altea Freetrack for the first time in the Moravian capital or Peugeot 207 SW.

Last year must have been a disappointment for everyone, when at the last minute from the expected up to 30 manufacturers showed through importers only the three mentioned above. Last year's drop in interest is officially due to the collapse of the entire car market . Unofficially, however, it is speculated that the BVV set the prices of the exhibition spaces disproportionately high for the services offered…
