The new SKODA compact limousine is called Rapid . The Czech carmaker announced this today as part of this year 's Beijing Auto Show .
This year, the new model will celebrate its premiere in Europe. From 2013, the Rapid will also be produced and sold in China in a variant for the Chinese market. A concrete harbinger of the Chinese model is the MissionL China – a study close to production status, which SKODA presented in Beijing.
"As part of its growth strategy, SKODA has launched the biggest model offensive in the company's history, and in the coming years, on average, it will launch a new model every six months," said SKODA Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. hc Winfried Vahland at the press conference of the SKODA brand in Beijing. "The Rapid is our next new model. SKODA Rapid is extremely important for our growth strategy and will be another tailwind for our sales on global markets," says Winfried Vahland .
With the Rapid model, SKODA offers an attractive family car between the Fabia and Octavia models, i.e. in a segment that is experiencing strong growth worldwide. A concrete idea of the design and concept of this car is provided by the MissionL design study. When designing the car's interior, the automaker conducted extensive research among its Chinese customers to offer them the kind of car they really want. MissionL China and subsequently the future compact model are thus an ideal combination of the traditional values of the SKODA brand and specific Chinese requirements.
