The new generation of Suzuki SX4 has premiered

The automaker from the land of the rising sun presented a concept called S-Cross at the Paris Motor Show last year, and it was supposed to foreshadow the new generation of the successful Suzuki SX4 model . At the beginning of the second month of this year, the Suzuki brand announced that the aforementioned S-Cross concept is going into series production and released the first teaser.

And just yesterday, a completely new generation of Suzuki SX4 was shown in the world premiere at the Geneva exhibition center. Although the designation remained the same, the technology and dimensions are still different. Compared to its predecessor, the new SX4 will offer LED daytime running lights built into the main headlights, a more robust stance and two-piece tail lamps. We also noticed the sloping roofline and the elegant profile line that runs from the bow to the stern. The new generation SX4 will be available in a total of ten color shades, including Crystal Lime Metallic (in the photos in the gallery below the article).

The second generation Suzuki SX4 has the following dimensions – length 4300 mm (compared to the predecessor, this is an increase of 165 mm), width 1765 mm (+ 10 mm) and height 1575 mm (+ 10 mm). The wheelbase is 2600 mm (+ 100 mm), which means more space in the cabin. The new crossover can be fitted with 16" or 17" alloy wheels with 205/60R16 or 205/50R17 tires.

Under the hood, we can find a 1.6 -liter gasoline engine with a five-speed manual transmission or a 1.6 -liter diesel engine with a six-speed manual. Of course, the offer also includes a seven-speed CVT gearbox with paddles under the steering wheel, but it is only intended for the petrol unit. There will also be all-wheel drive , but only the front wheels will be driven as standard.

Suzuki says the new SX4 boasts 430 liters of boot space and an optional panoramic sunroof, which is one of the largest in the segment. When choosing a diesel power unit, manual transmission and front-wheel drive, emissions are 110 g/km. On the other hand, with the choice of gasoline engine, CVT and all-wheel drive, emissions have a value of 136 g/km.

The new Suzuki SX4 will be produced in Hungary and sales could start in autumn 2013.
