The new generation of Nissan X-Trail is here

The biggest Frankfurt news from Nissan is the long-awaited third generation SUV X-Trail . It is more rounded than its predecessor and will become the next global model of the Japanese brand.

The design is inspired by the larger Pathfinder model , which, however, probably won't even arrive in Europe. It means that not much is left of the "rugged" look of the previous generation. One of the reasons is, for example, the fact that the new X-Trail ( Rouge in the USA ) will be sold in 190 countries around the world , which will make it a real world traveler. On request, Nissan is able to supply nineteen-inch wheels or front lights made entirely of LEDs.

The interior will excel in spaciousness, offering space for up to seven passengers, while those in the second row will benefit from a longer wheelbase . In addition, the rear door can be opened at an angle of up to 80 ° , which will help when entering the cabin. There will be a NissanConnect multimedia system and quality materials (chrome, additional leather).

We only know so much about the technology so far that the new X-Trail stands on the CMF modular platform and will offer All Mode 4x4i all-wheel drive, which works in three modes – 2WD, Auto and Lock (permanent four-wheel drive). Among the new technological solutions, the X-Trail will receive Active Ride Control adaptive dampers, automatic engine braking before a turn and when descending Active Engine Brake, a stabilization system Active Trace Control , an assistant when starting up a hill, Uphill Start Support and Advance Hill Descent Control.

Sales of the new X-Trail, despite the premiere in Frankfurt, should start only in the second half of next year . That's when Nissan will also release information about engines, dimensions or dynamics.
