Production of the first hatchback of the Skoda brand in the important segment of lower-middle-class cars started today in Mladá Boleslav. Starting today, the new Skoda Rapid Spaceback model is rolling off the production line at Skoda's main production plant in Mladá Boleslav. The world premiere of the new model will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show and will be introduced to European markets from October.
The start of production of the Rapid Spaceback model is already the eighth launch of a new or modernized Skoda model this year. "All Skoda employees, from purchasing to technical development, production and logistics to quality control, once again did an excellent job and managed the launch of this extremely important model for the brand reliably, with high quality and on time," says the member of the Skoda Board of Directors responsible for production and logistics Michael Oeljeklaus .
For the production of the Rapid Spaceback model, Skoda modified the processes and expanded the production lines at the main production plant in Mladá Boleslav. For example, the installation of new welding robots took place during the plant-wide vacation. The Rapid Spaceback is produced on a joint assembly line with the Fabia . In addition to them, Skoda produces the Octavia, Octavia Combi and Rapid models in Mladá Boleslav.
With the Rapid Spaceback model, Skoda has supplemented the range of products between the Fabia and Octavia models and for the first time offers a compact car that combines the practical qualities of the brand's cars with hatchback shapes. As is typical for a Skoda car, the Rapid Spaceback has plenty of space, a range of Simply Clever solutions, top safety, low consumption and an excellent price-utility ratio. With its fresh and dynamic design, the Rapid Spaceback will especially appeal to young people and families.
As part of the preparation for the production of the new Octavia/Octavia Combi and Rapid/Rapid Spaceback models, at the beginning of 2013, the automaker put into operation a new welding shop, fully automatic interior painting and a new, highly modern pressing line. In addition, since April, the new logistics warehouse ensures the production of cars and aggregates faster, more flexibly and more efficiently than before.
