The four will be a thing of the past, the new Skoda Octavia will again offer a more conservative design

The modernization of the current Skoda Octavia brought a truly controversial design, as the front had new split headlights like the older Mercedes E-class used to have. The public debut of the rejuvenated Octavia III took place last year at the Vienna Motor Show in January.

The new generation Skoda Octavia is already being fully tested as a mule, as spy photographers caught it in action. Unfortunately, it is not yet clear how it will look in terms of appearance, as the test prototype has a body of the current generation.

But French newspaper AutomobileMag claims that the new Octavia will no longer have split headlights. The front part will have a new larger grille with chrome accessories, and the rear will have redesigned lights. As for the interior, you can expect a digital instrument panel and a new information system.

In terms of technology, the fourth generation Octavia will be built on the revised MQB platform. The eight-cylinder Golf will also arrive on the same chassis in the summer of next year, as well as the Audi A3 and Seat Leon. The details of the engine range are not yet known, but there will definitely be a couple of petrol engines headed by the turbocharged four-cylinder 1.5 TSI. The top Octavia RS could then have around 250 horsepower. Skoda is also planning a future with diesels, as the current 1.6 TDI will be replaced by a 1.5 TDI.

An electrified version and a mild-hybrid with a voltage of 48V are still expected later. The date of the premiere of the new Skoda Octavia has not yet been confirmed, but the debut is estimated at the turn of 2019 and 2020.
