For more than a year, there have been talks about the possibility of launching a luxury SUV or crossover that will bear the seal of British Jaguar . Those eagerly awaiting a similar model should mark September 10 in their calendars.
That's when the doors of the Frankfurt Motor Show open for journalists, and that's when the first SUV in the history of the brand will be presented. It is not yet clear whether it will be a concept or a straight production model, and the world's media also differ on the possible name of the model – some say it will be Q-Type , others QX.
The basis of the SUV will be the platform of the upcoming base sedan XS , which is supposed to replace the unpopular X-Type. The two models could also share an engine range. It will most likely consist of two diesel units (outputs from 163 to 240 hp) and two petrol units (outputs from 240 to 340 hp).
Production will take place at Land Rover's factory in Solihull , with the first units reaching customers in the second half of 2015.
