The open concept Toyota GT86 will arrive in Geneva

It was not so long ago that the twins called Toyobaru (Toyota GT86 or Subaru BRZ) drove the entire motoring world crazy. Based on this success, both automakers decided to expand the initial offering of one body and one engine. First up is Toyota , which will soon cut the roof off the GT86 .

And we will see a foreshadowing of this procedure in a few days in Geneva . Compared to its closed sister, the FT-86 Open concept has only four major design changes – a modified hood, wheels, the necessary wind deflector and, of course, a retractable roof instead of a fixed one . It is made of fabric and includes a rear glass.

The interior of the cabriolet is in a 2+2 configuration , but you can certainly imagine that no honey will travel on the back seats. We have to praise Toyota for the choice of colors in the interior – the leather upholstery in a combination of blue and white looks fresh and luxurious. Otherwise, the interior again matches the bathtub.

Dimensionally, the cabriolet is comparable to the coupe. This means a length of 4240 mm, a width of 1750 mm (narrower by 25 mm) and a height of 1270 mm (lower by 15 mm). The drive is provided by a two-liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 200 horsepower, as is the case with the coupe. A six-speed manual transmission sends power to the rear wheels .

Considering the concept of a "concept", there is no doubt that we may see an official production version this summer, which will no longer bear the designation FT-86…
