In recent history, the luxury branch of the Volkswagen concern, the French Bugatti, has presented only two production models, but almost everyone knows them. The first of them is the Veyron and the second is the recently introduced successor, the Chiron. And as my fellow journalist says, the Veyron is an icon, while the Chiron is more technically advanced.
As usual, the classic Chiron was revealed first, followed by the sharper Sport version. But Bugatti is planning yet another variation and no, it won't be a convertible. The upcoming gem will bear the name Chiron Divo and will be a decent hypersport. It could eventually be presented at the Pebble Beach Concourse d'Elegance event in August.
Over the past few months, the automaker has been showing the new model to its most loyal clients, and one of them revealed that it is drastically different from the classic Chiron and has a somewhat controversial design. The Chiron Divo is to be placed in the portfolio above the Sport version. And how will it differ from Sport? Especially with the new racing gearbox, which will make the hypersport much faster. If that happens, it will accelerate to 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds and reach 200 km/h in about 6.5 seconds.
The Chiron Divo was developed especially to be suitable for the track. As a result, you can expect an increase in downforce and, of course, a lower maximum speed – 390 km/h compared to the standard 420 km/h. In addition, the Divo version will be the lightest version of the Chiron family. In terms of production, a maximum of 100 units will be produced. Now the question is whether that hundred is included in the previously announced 500 total Chirons or is it an excess, so there would be 600 in total.
And as you may have guessed correctly, the Chiron Divo will definitely not be a cheap affair. Currently, there is talk of a price of around 5 million euros (approx. 130 million crowns), while the standard version comes out to 2.65 million euros (approx. 69 million crowns).
