Tata will share elements with British duo JLR

The owner of the British pair Jaguar and Land Rover is the Indian car company Tata , and so far we have not seen a Tata with JLR technology and vice versa. However, with the upcoming expansion of the Indian brand into the passenger car segment, the situation is set to change significantly.

“From the customer's point of view, there is nothing that is shared. However, from a technical and design point of view, sharing is in order. So in the future you will see a lot of shared technologies and platforms between Tata and JLR cars. But you will never see a Tata with the logo of one of the British car companies and vice versa," said Darren Bowler , CEO of Fusion Automotive , which imports Tata cars to the Australian market.

An example of cooperation can also be the future serial form of the Nexon crossover , which was presented this January: "Nexon was developed on a new platform, which is intended to be shared by various brands across the concern. It is a global car that is scheduled to be launched in 2017 and has been designed by Tata Motors on a global platform. For example, the platform of the new Golf is used in both the Audi A3 and the Q3, and ours was designed for the same purpose. The basis of the Nexon can easily be used for the RR Evoque, as well as for Tata and Jaguar cars," said Bowler. So it's more than clear that Tata is planning its own MQB-style modular platform at the Volkswagen Group.

Among the shared technologies could also appear a new range of Ingenium engines , which will be primarily used in future models of Jaguar and Land Rover. The Ingenium range of engines will include both diesel and turbocharged gasoline units , and according to official data, the engines will achieve the best power and torque values in their class.
