Tata showed the upgraded Nano

Practically every year, Tata comes up with minor modifications to the Nano hatchback , which despite weaker sales is still the cheapest car in the world. However, a bigger facelift is only coming this year, in addition to the robotic gearbox and the opening trunk lid, it will also bring the new name GenX Nano .

As already indicated by last year's Nano Twist F-Tronic concept, the biggest innovation until probably the last years of production of the first generation is the five-speed robotized Easy Shift manual (there is a slight deviation in the name from the mentioned concept here). The transmission itself can operate, for example, in Sport mode, one of the options is the manual selection of five preset stages. With the new transmission also comes another top in the Nana records, namely the world's cheapest car with an automatic transmission. If three pedals are still closer to you, you can reach for a four-speed manual . In both cases, under the hood is an atmospheric two- cylinder gasoline engine with a volume of 624 cm 3 with an output of 38 hp and a torque of 51 Nm. So here, except for the cooler placed in front, no change.

However, with the arrival of the modified version, the practicality of the 3164 mm long hatchback with a wheelbase of 2230 mm has improved by leaps and bounds. For the first time ever, the fifth door is not a fixed part of the body, so luggage can be loaded in a way known from any other hatchback. The standard manual transmission is able to take 110 liters , respectively 500 liters after folding the rear seats, the model with the Easy Shift transmission will have to settle for 94 liters of space. Another welcome change is the increase in the fuel tank to 24 liters and improved body rigidity, but this also comes with 25kg more weight compared to the previous Nano. The machine is then another 30 kg heavier.

The body will attract attention with new bumpers with a "smiling" pattern (at the front with integrated fog lights) and redesigned main headlights with a black background, which is connected by a black bar with the car company's logo. The color palette was completed by a red shade with the characteristic name Sangria. The cabin has a more luxurious impression compared to its predecessor, and the new three-spoke steering wheel from the newer Zest and Bolt models has the biggest share. Selected trim levels also benefit from a more modern upholstery design, a radio with four speakers and Bluetooth/Aux/USB connectivity, and a black center console in contrast to the light-colored rest of the dashboard.

Orders for the GenX Nano are now being accepted by dealers across India. The XE, XM and XT lines are reserved for the model with a manual gearbox, the Easy Shift gearbox is only available in the XTA version. Prices should be in the range of 280,000-320,000 rupees (approx. 108,000-123,000 crowns).
