Suzuki presents the concept of a small off-road car in Geneva

Suzuki's tradition of introducing small but capable off-road vehicles goes back to the 1970s with the LJ model. Over time, it was followed by Samurai, Jimny or the first generation SX4 models. The vision of a successor to these cars is represented by the iM-4 concept , somewhat similar to the Japanese kei class cars.

Above all, the ability to build a five-seater five-door SUV on a floor plan with a length of 3693 mm , a width of 1709 mm, a height of 1566 mm and a wheelbase of 2438 mm is not so common in Europe. With a body shape with a sloping roof at the rear and ribbing on the C-pillar, the iM-4 refers not only to the famous Fronte Coupé or Cervo models of the first generation, but also to the recently introduced eighth-generation Alto . You may also remember this when looking at the front mask, which together with the lights form imaginary glasses. The contrast with the white body of the Innocent is formed by dark A and B pillars, the "respect" of the car is given by extended fenders, which hide 18-inch wheels with 215/45 tires.

As a basis, a new generation of floor group was used, which increases rigidity, safety, driving stability, grip and reduces fuel consumption. Thanks to it, vibrations and noise penetrating from the wheels should also be reduced. Suzuki will then globally reduce the number of platforms from the current four to three and focus on their modularity and the use of a single group in multiple models. The engine is powered by a 12-litre petrol engine in combination with SHVS mild hybrid technology . It consists of an integrated starter generator, regenerative braking and lithium-ion batteries. As the higher ground clearance suggests, all four wheels are driven.
