In 2002, Suzuki first introduced the Alto Lapin , a kei car aimed at women, derived from one of Japan's most popular cars. Six years later, the second generation premiered, which, among other things, caught the attention of the Chocolat version . About half a year after the classic Alto of the eighth generation , the time was also ripe for the third edition of the Lapin version with a stiffer body and an even cuter design.
The five-door hatchback is literally called Rabbit , which humorously resembles the logo on the silver grille. However, it is definitely not the only great detail of the model, whose box-like shape and round headlights are somewhat reminiscent of the legendary Renault 4 . And the lights just mentioned are another memorable element of the 3395 mm long , 1475 mm wide and 1525 mm high body. There are round "peeps" at both ends, and this shape fits perfectly with the overall appearance of the Alta Lapin. As a proper car for the fairer sex, the "bunny" also has several body color variants . A classic is a uniform color for all parts. If you dare a little more, you can add black pillars to one of the eight lacquers, which looks especially good in combination with white. The third option is a combination of pink, ivory, turquoise or beige paint with a white roof and mirrors and black pillars. In all cases, the edges of the mudguards and the lower parts of the bumpers are also brought out in a dark color.
The playful design continues inside, where bright colors create a positive atmosphere. The only "individualization" option is a dark or light dashboard strip and possibly two-tone upholstery of the seats , where beige is complemented by, for example, a checkered motif. A characteristic feature of all Japanese cars of the kei class is extraordinary variability , which is manifested in the Alta Lapin by folding front and rear seats or a drawer instead of a passenger compartment. The center console is very simple and, in addition to a few buttons, consists only of a radio panel, or a seven-inch display of a multimedia system with navigation or a reversing camera. And if we were talking about the rabbit motif in the front part, it cannot be neglected on the centrally located speedometer either. In terms of space, the hatchback with a wheelbase of 2460 mm will carry four passengers and 115 liters of luggage. It doesn't seem like much, but it is an increase of 30 liters between generations. There is also more space for passengers, which suggests, for example, a plus 60 mm between the front and rear seats.
The construction of the body was enriched not only with high- strength steel, but also with ultra-high-strength steel . As a result, Lapin is lighter, stiffer and safer. The diet can be demonstrated on the version with front-wheel drive and robotic gearbox, which as the lightest version weighs 650 kg, or on the version with all-wheel drive and automatic CVT, the maximum weight of which is 730 kg. And this is of course the most difficult specification! Almost perfect maneuverability in narrow spaces is to be ensured by steering with a variable transmission , Suzuki has also worked on driving characteristics and comfort. Under the hood, the only option is a 0.66-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine , whose 52 horsepower is available at 6,500 rpm and 63 Nm at 4,000 rpm. In addition to the five-speed robotized transmission, a continuously variable CVT is also available. Both boxes drive the front or all wheels.
Among other things, the basic equipment features radar-controlled brakes , which can bring the car to a complete stop from speeds of up to 30 km/h when a possible collision is detected. At the same time, the radar located behind the front window does not allow the driver to accelerate at the traffic lights when the light is green, but the car in front of him is stationary. In the price list, you will find the G, L, S and X lines, the basic model equipped with a robotic system will cost 1,077,840 yen (approx. 211,000 crowns). The cheapest four-wheeler costs 1,188,000 yen (approx. 232,000 crowns), and the top version with stepless automatic transmission and all-wheel drive costs 1,492,560 yen (approx. 292,000 crowns).
