Suzuki has finally produced its own diesel engine

Until this week, Suzuki was always dependent on one of its automotive partners when using a diesel engine. However, with the unveiling of the two-cylinder V8 , the Japanese automaker is entering a completely new era.

The twin- turbocharged diesel was developed primarily with light weight in mind, which is reflected in the use of the aluminum alloy block, fuel system or aforementioned blower. The other side of the coin is very low consumption , which was achieved by installing a large intercooler and reducing the compression ratio to 15.1:1. And if you are afraid of vibrations, then know that the Japanese have used an optimized flywheel, modified engine silentblocks and ensured greater rigidity to the body. In total, the engine produces 48 hp at 3500 rpm and 125 Nm at 2000 rpm.

However, if you're expecting a similar unit in Europe , you're likely to be disappointed. Due to the high demand for diesel units, the mentioned two-cylinder will be available only in India in the Celerio city model. It is, like any other Suzuki, sold in this Asian country under the Maruti Suzuki brand. Claimed consumption is 3.7 L/100 km, which is said to be the most fuel-efficient car in India today. In the local market, the Celerio DDiS 125 will be available for 465,393 rupees (approx. 178,000 crowns).
