Suzuki Cappuccino – The return of the tiny roadster!?

In the 1990s, Japanese Suzuki had a tiny kei car type roadster in its range. The car was called the Cappuccino and it was a relatively inexpensive way to have fun behind the wheel. Suzuki is currently reportedly considering bringing this model back in modern form.

The original Cappuccino went on sale in 1991 and was available until 1997. It offered a 657cc , 63bhp turbocharged three-cylinder engine mounted behind the front wheels, which flowed to the rear wheels. The length of 3,295 mm and width of 1,395 mm, together with the volume and power of the engine, placed the Cappuccino in the kei car category , which meant lower taxes and insurance on the domestic market.

Aluminum was used for the construction of the car, which helped to keep the weight at 725 kilograms . When both seats were occupied, the weight distribution was stated to be 50:50. It was also nice to be able to remove the roof panel and turn the Cappuccina into a targa , or even remove the rear window to get a convertible .

There is almost no official information about the return of Cappuccino . However, it is believed that it should retain the personality of the original model. This means small dimensions and an engine and low weight. In addition, it is speculated that Suzuki will team up with another car company to develop it, with the UK's Caterham being offered directly. The Japanese began to supply it with a 660 cc three-cylinder for the basic version of the Seven model. Extending the collaboration to a successor to Cappuccino , which could use the same engine, wouldn't be out of the question.
