Subaru Outback got a tougher look

The Subaru Outback has always been more of a road crossover than a bona fide off-road vehicle. But why shouldn't it be played? That's exactly the question they asked themselves in Australia , and they present the answer to it as the Outback of the 2014 model year .

Compared to the previous model, you will definitely not miss the facelift . Thanks to the plastic protection of the mudguards , sills, lower part of the doors and bumpers, roof rails , visible steel chassis protection, darkened headlights, gray radiator grille and new wheels.

As Nick Senior , director of Subaru Australia, says: “Customer feedback has told us there is interest in a tougher-looking Outback with more body protection, which is particularly useful on dirt roads. The upgrade can offer both, helping the Outback maintain its position as one of the most versatile station wagons on the Australian market.”

Under the hood of the modernized Outback, a diesel engine combined with an automatic transmission will appear for the first time in Australia. The 2.0D unit is complemented by two petrol siblings – the weaker 2.5i and the stronger 3.6R. And while the automatic is new for the diesel, you can't get gasoline engines with a different transmission. In addition to the new drive combination, the Outback also gets an improved All-Wheel Drive system, which distributes the torque between the front and rear wheels much better and offers better stability and traction.

The price has risen by 500 Australian dollars (about 9,000 CZK) compared to the model year, which means that the Outback now starts at 38,990 Australian dollars (about 702,000 CZK).
