Subaru introduced the new generation of the Legacy model

When Subaru unveiled a concept foreshadowing the next-generation Legacy in November of last year, you couldn't help but notice the styling change that Subaru showed off. However, in the transition from concept to production form, the boldness of the concept was somehow lost.

The four-door coupe became a classic sedan , and perhaps only the silver body color and the hexagonal grille remained. The front, as well as the rear lights are more settled (the rear ones are made of LEDs ), the version with a 2.5-liter engine is also equipped with an active hood. Basic versions lack the side indicators integrated into the indicators. The wheels are seventeen or eighteen inches.

In the interior, Subaru promises a higher quality of workmanship and better materials. The equipment includes a new 6.2-inch or even 7-inch touch screen of the multimedia system , which has the option of pairing with a smartphone, a Harman/Kardon radio with up to twelve speakers (satellite radio is available in the higher version) or a rear parking camera.

Although the length of the sedan has increased by 41 mm (4795 mm in total), the wheelbase has remained at 2751 mm, which corresponds to its predecessor. Subaru promises that the room for shoulders, knees and heads of passengers has increased. The luggage compartment is also larger, with a new 425 litres .

Under the hood of the American specification, we can find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an output of 177 hp with a torque of 235 Nm or a 3.6-liter six-cylinder with an output of 260 hp with a maximum torque of 334 Nm. Both models have Symmetrical All Wheel Drive and the Lineartronic automatic transmission as standard, with which the four-cylinder consumes 7.8 l/100 km, the six-cylinder claims 10.2 l/100 km.

In terms of technical finesse, Legacy offers, for example, the Active Torque Vectoring system, which can transfer braking pressure to the inside front wheel and thus ensure more neutrality in turns, the modified EyeSight system, which uses cameras to monitor the car's surroundings, blind spot monitoring or lane departure warning. The new generation will go on sale in the summer of this year, but so far only in the USA.
