Subaru BRZ Turbo will be, it is currently in development!

Japanese automaker Subaru unveiled its BRZ model at the Tokyo Motor Show last year. It is a two-door coupe with rear-wheel drive and a front-mounted naturally aspirated engine. But fans of the turbo effect can rejoice, as Subaru has announced these days that a turbocharged power unit is in development for the BRZ.

The basis should be the same as for the atmospheric unit, i.e. a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with direct injection. The engine will be equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger, thus the output will increase from atmospheric 200 hp and 205 Nm to turbocharged 280 hp and 339 Nm. We wonder how much the fuel consumption will differ.

The BRZ Turbo could borrow some exterior design cues from the BRZ STI concept. For now, we don't know much about the turbocharged BRZ or the premiere date, but it should reportedly be sold as a 2014 model year .
