SsangYong showed two new concepts in Paris

2015 will probably be a crucial year for Korean SsangYong on the European market. Right at the beginning of the year, it will launch the X100 model , a new B-segment SUV, which will be one of the brand's key players on the old continent. The XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure concepts indicate how the new product, which is likely to be close to a hundred, will look like.

Although you may not see the connection in them at first glance, we are 99% looking at two future variants of the X100 model. While Air foreshadows a more city-oriented variant , Adventure is, for a change, a more adventurous type . What will definitely not be retained in the series are the removable targa-type roof panels that the XIV-Air has. On the other hand, what could be included in the series is the effective two-tone paintwork of both models, the shape of the lights with LED diodes for daytime running, the bumpers or the rising line of the side windows. A characteristic element of the 4195 mm long SUV with a wheelbase of 2600 mm will probably also be the short body overhangs.

Thanks to the removable roof, the interior can only be seen in the XIV-Air model, where it looks practically completely standard. The blue-beige upholstery suits him and makes the interior look more luxurious than it would otherwise be. However, the central touch screen , somewhat reminiscent of the new Volvo XC90, certainly has its share, through which all the on-board functions of the car will be controlled. These include digital dual-zone climate control , an audio system with MP3/USB/Aux connectivity, a connection for iPod and iPhone or a "mirror" function, when the display in the car shows what is on the phone, and a rear parking camera. The fully digital instrument panel can be illuminated in up to five colors .

Under the hoods of both SUVs we find a sixteen -seat engine, but the XIV-Air runs on diesel and the XIV-Adventure on gasoline. Although we do not know the exact power values, both engines will get front or all-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmission. The only figures that the Korean automaker has published are the CO2 emissions values – in the case of gasoline with front-wheel drive and a manual transmission, it is 140-150 g/km, if you choose diesel, the XIV emits only 110-120 g/km in the same combination . Both models are equipped with a stop/start system, a correct gear shift indicator and meet the Euro 6 emission standard.

As dictated by modern times, the XIV also has a number of electronic safety aids , of which the ESP, which monitors the road and the condition of the vehicle and adjusts speed, brake efficiency and steering according to this data, is probably the most prominent. Hill Start Assist helps when starting uphill, in the event of emergency braking, the Emergency Stop Signal will surely come in handy for the drivers behind you. In the interior, we find a complete set of airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver.
