Smart eScooter heading to production!

Some of you may remember the previous year's motor show in Paris , where an interesting electric scooter concept was presented at the stand of the Smart car company. Not even two years later we know more and whoever thought the concept would be forgotten was sorely mistaken. Smart has traditionally given the green light to the "green" concept in cooperation with Mercedes and will put it on sale. However, the wait is not over yet, as the first eScooters will hit the roads only in 2014.

Smart doesn't have its clever name for nothing, as we have seen in the past thanks to interesting trendy cars. The eScooter took its cue from the ForTwo Electric Drive model, from which it borrowed the green and white paint job. Hi-tech elements include solar panels, lighting with LED technology or full connectivity with iPhone devices. An interesting feature is the connection of a mobile phone through a special connector, thanks to which it is possible to control all the functions of the device via the buttons on the heated handlebars.

The Smart eScooter is powered by a small 4 kW electric motor, which found its place in the hub of the rear wheel and is powered by modern lithium-ion batteries. Thanks to them, the light scooter has enough breath to travel up to 100 kilometers at a maximum speed of 45 km/h. Recharging the accumulators from the mains takes three to five hours.

There is no need to explain that the Smart eScooter is intended primarily for the city. However, the jungle of metropolises hides a lot of dangers, which the manufacturer tries to prevent by installing an airbag , ABS or a blind spot monitoring system.
