Skoda presents the new Superb Combi

The station wagon was a frequently sought-after option for the second-generation Superb , and Skoda already promised at the premiere of the liftback in mid-February that a more practical design would arrive at the autumn IAA in Frankfurt . What we can look forward to in the German city, however, thanks to the first pictures and information, reveals even before the holidays.

As we have become accustomed to with every new Skoda, the Superb Combi also comes with "the best offer of space in its segment" . Similar to the liftback, the MQB platform made it possible to increase the wheel track to 1584 mm at the front and 1572 mm at the rear, but above all to extend the wheelbase to 2841 mm , which had a positive effect on the space especially for the knees of the rear passengers. In front of them is a new full 157 mm, i.e. a value almost twice as large as that of the nearest competitor. The internal width at elbow height has increased by 39 mm at the front and even by 70 mm at the back, the headroom of the driver and passenger is 995 mm, and the three rear passengers have 1001 mm! The volume of the trunk has also increased – it can hold 660 liters in the basic configuration , even 1950 liters with the seats folded down.

At the same time, this is not a mobile box on wheels , but a very elegant station wagon, which is unmatched even by models a segment higher. The Superb Combi looks especially elegant from the profile, where the smooth continuity of the rear part with the rest of the bodywork stands out. The automaker also mentions shorter body overhangs or the already mentioned extended wheelbase and larger wheel track. Skoda is keeping the technical details to itself for now, but we can expect a similar offer of power units as in the liftback, adaptive dampers , internet connection via a Wi-Fi hotspot or the latest generation of on-board connectivity.
