The new Skoda Rapid in a specific design for China is the star of the exhibition of the Mladá Boleslav brand at the Shanghai Auto Show 2013. Skoda Rapid Xin Rui , which has its exhibition premiere in Shanghai, will enter the local market in April.
The Chinese Rapid was purposefully developed with regard to the specific requirements of Chinese customers. Therefore, the car enters the local market with a sedan body with a stepped rear, which is very popular in the "Middle Kingdom". The main target group of Skoda Rapid is primarily families. In the offer, it ranks between the Fabia and Octavia models, i.e. in the most powerful, compact segment.
Targeted design modifications are aimed at the tastes of Chinese customers. Among other things, they include, for example, a higher proportion of chrome elements. A total of nine equipment packages allow customers to combine comfort and safety equipment according to their own wishes and needs. The Rapid in China comes with two economical petrol engines 1.4 MPI/66 kW and 1.6 MPI/81 kW .
The Rapid is the brand's first model to bring the automaker's newly developed design language to the Chinese market. It is characterized by perfect proportions, clear and cleanly modeled surfaces and sharply cut lines.
The nose will attract attention with a new interpretation of the signs typical of the Skoda brand. The newly executed winged arrow logo found a prominent place on the rounded front edge of the engine hood. The side line, on the other hand, is characterized by a long wheelbase and a distinctive Tornádo line , creating a clear transition of light and shadow. The combination of taillights with typical C-shaped graphics, a pair of cubist triangular segments and a new logo contributes to the great appearance of the rear.
Great emphasis is placed on active and passive safety. ABS is part of the standard equipment . The Chinese Rapid can be equipped with an ESC system and will take good care of passengers even in the event of an accident. The offer includes, among other things, up to 6 airbags , height-adjustable three-point seat belts with a pre-tensioner in the front or head restraints.
