The offer is richer with a 1.6 TDI diesel engine , modern xenon headlights , an interior with a new three-spoke steering wheel, new trim strips, seat covers and a number of other design improvements. This is a modified Skoda Rapid for the 2014 model year !
The range of engines for the Rapid model is now being expanded to include a 1.6 TDI (90 hp) diesel engine . This unit works with common-rail direct injection, is equipped with a particulate filter and can be optionally equipped with either a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a five-speed manual transmission.
Even for this diesel engine, the manufacturer offers an economical Green tec version . The Green tec package includes technologies that reduce the car's consumption, such as the start-stop system, brake energy recovery and tires with optimized rolling resistance. CO2 emissions for the Rapid 1.6 TDI Green tec are just 104 g/km, the corresponding standard fuel consumption is 3.9 l/100 km.
The interior was also optimized. Rapid will now have new three-spoke steering wheels . The differences are in the materials used (PUR, PUR combined with chrome, leather with chrome) and functionality (with or without buttons for the multifunction display/telephone/audio system).
The new trim strips in four design variants (Graphite-Metallic, Silver-Brushed, Piano-White and Piano-Black) will have the Ambition and Elegance equipment versions of the Rapid model. New seat covers are also available for these versions. For the equipment versions Rapid Active and Ambition , the instrument panel and door trim are prepared in a new gray tone.
The Swing radio will get a more modern panel, the Blues radio will have controls supplemented with chrome details. You can now also order xenon headlights for the Skoda Rapid model. The low-energy xenon source has a luminous flux of up to 2,000 lumens. Unlike solutions used in higher class cars, this system does not require automatic tilt control and headlight washers. The advantage is a lower price compared to xenon headlights with a higher luminous flux, while maintaining comparable lighting intensity.
The modernized Rapid will be available from August 5 this year .
