Skoda revealed more details of the new Fabia

The unveiling of the new Fabia will be an ongoing series. After the first sketch , published in mid-July, which was supplemented by several findings , mainly from foreign media, Skoda comes with an official load of information about the engines and also with the first photo of the front light.

Skoda promises that when the vehicle is presented in October (the online presentation should take place a little earlier and production will start from the end of August ), the Fabia will rewrite consumption and emissions standards, as it is supposed to be up to 17% more economical than its predecessor . A range of four petrol and three diesel engines meeting the Euro 6 emission standard will help with this, which will be equipped as standard with a start-stop system and brake energy recovery.

The basic units will be gasoline three-cylinder 1.0 MPI with indirect fuel injection and a power of 60 or 75 hp, respectively four-cylinder gasoline 1.2 TSI with direct fuel injection and turbocharging with a power of 90 or 110 hp. If you prefer diesel, you will choose one of three performance variants of the new three-cylinder 1.4 TDI with an aluminum engine block and Common Rail direct fuel injection. The power spectrum here ranges from 75 to 105 hp, which corresponds to the previous model with 1.6 TDI engines. Although the Fabia will receive "only" the PQ25 platform , the engines will be based on MQB technology.

For environmentalists, the most interesting version will be the Fabia GreenLine , which will receive a 75-horsepower TDI diesel under the hood and many ecological modifications (start-stop system, brake energy recovery, tires with reduced rolling resistance and aerodynamic modifications). The result should be a consumption of 3.1 l/100 km and CO2 emissions at the level of 82 g/km, which will make the Fabia GreenLine the most environmentally friendly Skoda car powered by conventional fuels. However, the arrival of this version is not planned until the end of 2015 .

Depending on the specific equipment and engine, the new Fabia will also be up to 65 kg lighter than the previous generation (taking into account the higher standard of standard equipment in the new generation). The basic version with a three-cylinder 1.0 MPI engine has a curb weight (without driver) of just 980 kg .

We also have to get to the first official photo of the new Fabia, which captures the shape of the headlight. Its shape resembles the larger Rapid or Octavia models and it does not lack LEDs for daytime running lights . Similar to the Rapid, there will be a gap between the radiator grille and the front lights, which the Octavia has.
