Skoda becomes a member of the global alliance of technology and car manufacturers . Goal: Integration of mobile devices with the Android operating system into Skoda cars .
"Connectivity is becoming more and more important in our daily lives, and it is also playing a bigger role in cars," says Dr. Frank Welsch, member of the board of directors of Skoda Auto for technical development . "Our customers appreciate the flexibility and practicality of our cars. The integration of mobile devices into cars will bring our customers improved connectivity, greater safety and simpler control – this is also a Simply Clever solution," adds Welsch .
With regard to the considerable spread of smartphones , tablets, etc., customers are increasingly demanding the connection of mobile devices with the car – in the spirit of the slogan Smartphone on four wheels. Joining the Open Automotive Alliance is an important step for the Czech automaker to be able to present a sufficiently attractive offer in the future. "The partnership with the Open Automotive Alliance will allow us to offer attractive Internet applications based on the Android operating system in our cars. In the interest of the customer, we are thus taking the topic of automotive connectivity to a higher level," says Frank Welsch .
The Open Automotive Alliance was founded in January 2014. The founding members include, among others, the Internet concern Google , car manufacturers Audi, General Motors, Honda, and chip manufacturer Nvidia . The goal of the joint platform is the safe and intuitive use of modern technologies and Internet services based on the Android operating system.
