Volkswagen is bringing a new version of the Scirocco to Shanghai

Three years ago, Volkswagen came up with a reincarnation of the once famous Scirocco GTS , which in the early eighties was a kind of Golf GTI in a neater package. However, together with last year's facelift, the GTS version disappeared from the offer and is only now returning, again with the technology of the Golf GTI .

The most powerful "Rocco" has a two-liter TSI under the hood with a capacity of 220 hp, which is 10 hp more than the predecessor. The standard manual six-speed means acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, a top speed of 246 km/h and an average consumption of 6.1 l/100 km, the optional six-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic will offer the same acceleration, but a 2 km/h lower top speed and 0.3 l/100 km higher consumption.

Along with more performance comes more style, which is represented by the R-Line design package (bumpers, side skirts, spoiler and diffuser), black mirror caps, a three-dimensional GTS logo in the radiator grille and 18-inch Norwich wheels . For an extra charge, a GTS package will be available in Europe, referring to the famous predecessor, with two stripes on the hood, roof and fifth door. In China, where the Scirocco GTS debuts next week, the stripes are standard equipment. The 18-inch rims can be exchanged for 19-inch Lugano wheels at an additional cost, which will match one of six body colors (Deep Black, Indium Grey, Urano Grey, Pure White, Oryx White and Flash Red).

Similar to its predecessor, here, too, the specifics are the sporty flattened steering wheel and the gear lever head in the shape of a golf ball . The anatomical seats are partially upholstered in leather, have the GTS logo, red stitching and a red-grey center stripe. For an extra charge, the seats can be covered in black Vienna leather (again standard for the Chinese market). The dashboard is inlaid with decors in black piano lacquer, which contrasts with the red stitching on the steering wheel, gear lever head, seat belts and handbrake lever. The equipment includes the Composition Color multimedia system of the MIB II series, which celebrates its premiere in the Scirocco series. In addition, navigation, a panoramic roof (standard for the Chinese market), a multifunction steering wheel and bi-xenon lights are also available for an additional fee.
