Sergio Pininfarina has died

The well-known Italian designer and head of the car design company of the same name died tonight at the age of 85 from an unspecified illness. With reference to the Italian media, this news was published by the AFP agency.

Sergio (née Farina) was born on September 8, 1926 in Turin. The company Carrozzeria Pininfarina was founded by his father Battista Farina , who, on the recommendation of the Minister of Justice, had his name changed to Pininfarina, which was also approved by the Italian president at the time. Sergio took over in 1966 when Father Battista died and continued his successful work. The company continued to flourish and became a renowned design leader in the industry.
Under his leadership, the company strove for the creation of such cars as, for example, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, Alfa Romeo 164, Ferrari Maranello, Ferrari 360, Ferrari Modena, Ferrari Testarossa, Ferrari F430, Ferrari 250 GT, Lancia Beta Monte Carlo, Maserati Quattroporte (2003), but also Peugeot 205, Peugeot 406 Coupé or Peugeot 1007. However, his work can also be found on Volvo, Mitsubishi, Jaguar, Honda, Ford and others. However, he "primarily" worked with the Fiat concern.
During his lifetime, he also became a senator and raised his successors, after the tragic death of his son Andrea (2008), Paolo Pininfarina took over the company.
