Seat confirmed the production of the first SUV!

In 2011, the Spanish brand Seat showed its IBX concept at the Geneva exhibition, which foreshadowed the first ever SUV from Spain. It was not talked about for a long time, but now the head of the car company, James Miur , has confirmed to the British Autocar that the SUV project has also received the "green light" from the Volkswagen concern.

The new SUV will become a competitor for, for example, the sister Volkswagen Tiguan or the Nissan Qashqai . Miur stated that the production form of the crossover will appear at an auto show within the next two years, and sales are expected to begin by 2015. The IBX concept will also serve as design inspiration, but it will not simply be a production variant of this study.

After the start of sales of the new SUV , Seat expects an annual turnover of around 100,000 units. James Miur confidently declares: "I think an SUV is a far better choice for the brand than a four-door sedan ". He alluded to the new generation of the Exeo model, which has not yet been confirmed. In the future, he would also like a small SUV based on the Mii , something along the lines of the Volkswagen Taigun based on the Up!u . In our opinion, this is a clear matter in advance, as the concern itself recently stated that Seat and Skoda will have the same concept .
