Sachsen Classic 2012 – Four historic Skoda cars at the start!

The Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda will participate in this year's Sachsen Classic veteran rally with four attractive historic cars . The quartet of veterans of the Mladá Boleslav automobile company consists of unique cars from the 1930s, 1940s and 1960s. Czech competitor Jan Kopecký will start as a prominent driver of the Skoda 1000 MB Rallye.

Spectators at Sachsen Classic 2012 can look forward to one elegant aerodynamic coupé, two convertibles and one racing car from the collections of the Skoda Auto Museum . The 1968 1000 MB Rallye is a sporting rarity from the factory museum inventory. The four-cylinder engine with a volume of one liter, modified for sports use, reaches an output of 90 horsepower. The maximum speed of the car is 170 km/h.
The oldest car from Boleslav, which will take to the track in Saxony, is the Skoda Popular Monte Carlo from 1936. Only 72 examples of the elegant pre-war coupe were produced. At the Concours d'Elegance , a well-known veteran beauty contest, the Popular Monte Carlo regularly places high. In impressive contrast to the black lacquered aerodynamic body is a large number of chrome parts. A four-cylinder four-stroke engine with a volume of 1,386 cm³ and an output of 30 horsepower works under the hood of the impressive car with rear-wheel drive. The car reaches a maximum speed of 110 km/h.
The elegant Skoda Tudor convertible comes from the late 1940s. The car, produced in 1948, has already attracted attention at many vintage competitions and fans of historic cars are literally excited about it. The Tudor is powered by a 1089 cm³ four-cylinder with 32 horsepower. The maximum speed is 100 km/h. Tudor was produced between 1946 and 1952 in the number of over 80,000 cars.
A reminder of the 'sweet sixties' is the Skoda Felicia (Type 994) from 1961. Under the hood with an unusual blue-green paintwork, a four-cylinder engine with a volume of 1089 cm³ and an output of 50 horsepower is hidden. Skoda Felicia already participated in the Sachsen Classic competition last year.
The Sachsen Classic vintage car rally is taking place for the tenth time this year and is one of the most popular vintage drives. Participants will be treated to a 615-kilometer-long track leading through the attractive Saxon countryside. The rally starts on August 16, 2012 in Zwickau. After the circuit around Zwickau, connected with a detour to the Sachsenring racing circuit, the route continues through Leipzig to the Saxon capital of Dresden. The competition culminates on August 18 in the "Glass Manufactory" of the Volkswagen automobile company.
