Subaru revealed the new generation Outback

After the classic Legacy sedan , the new generation of the derived off-road station wagon Subaru Outback was also introduced. It is larger than before, offers better cross-country ability and, above all, received a new design identity for the brand.

The basic proportions have not changed, but otherwise the Outback has almost nothing in common with its predecessor. The new hexagonal grille , similar to the shape of the headlights, refers to the new Legacy, the ground clearance is 220 cm , and the massive plastic protection of the fenders and bumpers in turn reveals the adventurous nature of the model. The wheels correspond to the larger cut-out of the fenders and thus have a size of seventeen or eighteen inches , and in the rear we can find a decent roof spoiler.

The interior benefits mainly from larger dimensions – the length of the new Outback has increased by 1.5 cm, the width by 1.8 cm and the wheelbase by 0.5 cm. The result is a length of 4816 mm , a width of 1839 mm, a height of 1689 mm and a wheelbase of 2746 mm, along with more space for the shoulders and knees of passengers and their luggage. The space around the driver itself is again very similar to the Legacy model, when it received not only better softened plastics, but also a basic 6.2-inch display of the multimedia system and a 3.5-inch display between the alarm clocks. Higher versions of the equipment have perforated leather upholstery, wood paneling, dual-zone air conditioning or Harman/Kardon audio . An interesting feature of the top Limited version is the possibility to lock the car using a pin, which makes it even more protected against potential thieves.

Boxer-type gasoline engines rule under the hood, of course. The weaker is the 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a power of 177 hp and a torque of 235 Nm, the stronger one has six cylinders, a volume of 3.6 liters and a peak power of 260 hp. The torque is 334 Nm. Both units work exclusively with the Lineartronic transmission, which has a continuously variable transmission, and the all-wheel drive , which is equipped with the X-Mode mode, known for example from the new Forester.
