Renault presented a crazy concept

Renault Sport is known all over the world mainly thanks to the production of sharp and excellently drivable hatchbacks . However, every now and then he comes up with something crazy. At the beginning of the millennium it was the Renault Clio Sport V6 , five years ago the Mégane RS R26.R and today the Twizy Renault Sport F1 electric model, which was inspired by the world of Formula 1.

In addition to engineers from Dieppe, their colleagues from Formula 1 also worked on the construction. And you can tell it on the Twizy model. At least in appearance for sure. Front splitter, rear wing or side skirts. The wheels come directly from the Formula Renault 2.0 single-seater, while the steering wheel originates from the Formula Renault 3.5 single-seater.

However, the most important innovation is hidden in the place of the back seat. The KERS system is used in the cars of the queen of motorsport, or very luxurious and expensive cars. However, engineers installed it in the Twizy model, which in its standard form has only 17 electric horses.

However, thanks to KERS, the performance increases almost sixfold – to 98 hp (17 electric motor + 81 KERS) . All this, however, only for about 13 seconds . But even that is enough to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6 seconds, which is comparable to the current Mégane RS 265 . If you don't need 98 horsepower, KERS can be used as an electrical power generator.
