Renault Clio RS Grandtour – the first vision of a sharp station wagon

The French car manufacturer Renault released information to the world that it is considering the production of a sharp station wagon in the future, which should be built on the basis of the Clio Grandtour model. If that really happens, the Czech representative in the form of the Skoda Fabia Combi RS will be in trouble.

Already a year ago, the chief designer of the car company, Anthony Lo, boasted to the British magazine Autocar that the Renault Clio Grandtour modified by the Renault Sport division is a relatively realistic vision. He also said that the automaker has all the parts ready to build a possible sports station wagon. The first image of the Renault Clio Grandtour RS was taken care of by French designer Khalil Bouguerra, who indicated a rough sketch of how the car could look. After all, the version of the existing Clio RS hatchback served as a model

Under the hood of the sports station wagon, we can expect a turbocharged four-cylinder with a volume of 1.6 liters with an output of 200 horsepower (147 kW). The engine would work with a six-speed dual-clutch EDC transmission, with power sent to the front axle as standard.

If the vision of the Clio Grandtour RS becomes a real car, there should be a battle for customers in the car market. In the Czech Republic, we only have the Skoda Fabia Combi RS, which, however, with its 132 kW, is not enough for everyone. This shortcoming could be solved by the future Renault Clio Grandtour RS, which surpasses the Fabia Combi RS in terms of performance and design.
