Renault Captur 2013 – French Juke in detail!

On Tuesday, Renault released the first teaser of the planned Captur model in order to alert us to the virtual premiere of the new crossover, which took place just today. The public debut will take place at the Geneva Motor Show and the Captur will go on sale across Europe in late spring and summer.

The new Renault Captur is essentially a French Nissan Juke , as it is built on the same platform as the mentioned Japanese extravagant crossover. The Captur measures 4120mm in length (just 5mm shorter than the Juke), 1770mm in width and 1570mm in height. The clearance is 200 mm. Renault commented on the new model as follows: "Captur is a combination of expressive styling, the driving position of an SUV, a spacious and variable interior like an MPV and the driving agility and fun of a compact hatchback".

One would expect the designers to build on the Captur concept when creating a production version, but this was not the case. Inspired by the new generation of the Clio hatchback , the new crossover is said to be essentially a Clio off-road or on steroids. The Captur will offer many customization options, such as a two-tone body (first color – pillared roof, second color – rest of the body).

The interior boasts a large luggage compartment, variable cabin space and innovative storage from the MPV world. There will also be standard features such as hands-free, a hill start system or rear parking sensors. The equipment will include the Renault R-Link multimedia system with a touch screen and an unnamed additional system that includes six speakers, Bluetooth and more.

The Captur , unlike the Nissan Juke, will be sold exclusively with front-wheel drive, and initially we will find the following engines under the hood – a 1.2 TCe petrol with an output of 80 or 120 hp, which will be supplemented only with an EDC gearbox with two clutches, or a 1.5 dCi diesel with an output of 90 hp and an optional EDC gearbox.

The new Renault Captur will be produced at the Valladolid plant in Spain.
