Mercedes has modernized the E class Coupé and Cabriolet

It's only been a few weeks since the release of the first images of Mercedes ' updated E-class sedan and wagon , and now we have two more "E"s. This time, however, it is a much sportier version of the coupe and cabriolet .

But even they were not spared a relatively extensive facelift . Completely new is the front, where the two-piece lights have disappeared and the new single-pieces have abundant use of LEDs. Both bumpers are also new, the radiator grille with only one bar and a large logo in the middle, and the rear lights, which have received a new graphic form.

In the interior , the steering wheel, which is taken from the sedan or station wagon. Also look for an analog clock on the center console, the materials should also be improved and finally – it is now available with aluminum or wood paneling.

Even in the coupe and cabriolet, the latest Mercedes gadget cannot be missing – a stereoscopic camera (Mercedes calls it the Stereo Multi-Purpose Camera ). It uses two image inputs to scan the space up to 500 meters in front of the car at an angle of 45 degrees and is able to create a 3D map that shows the environment up to 50 meters in front of the vehicle. This mainly helps other safety systems in the car, which react better to the given situation. In addition to it, the E Coupé/Cabriolet also gets, for example, an adaptive chassis, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning or a crash warning system. In addition, the cabriolet will receive an Aircap wind "shield", which automatically extends at speeds above 40 km/h.

The absolute highlight is the E 500 version with a twin-turbocharged 4.6-liter eight-cylinder engine with 408 horsepower.

The basic diesel version is the E 220 CDI with a 2.1 four-cylinder engine and 170 horsepower . The offer continues through the E 250 CDI with the same four-cylinder tuned to 204 hp and ends with the E 350 BlueTec version, which is equipped with a six-cylinder 3.0 with 265 hp.

Engine power is transmitted on the road through the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic, which is controlled by paddles under the steering wheel. The 6-speed manual will only come later this year.
