Ram is upgrading its Heavy Duty line of pickups

The category of heavy pickups, denoted in the USA by the combination of Heavy Duty (Ram) or Super Duty (Ford) , has an old new leader. After mainly technical modernization, it became the Ram 2500/3500 HD , which should offer the best torque, load capacity and towing power in its class (depending on the version).

Although both models have remained visually untouched, under the hood it's a completely different song. Above all, the Ram 3500 HD with the 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel improved significantly, when its torque curve moved up to 1173 Nm , which, according to the automaker, is the most in its class. The pickup can owe this primarily to a recalibrated turbocharger and more aggressive fuel injection. Thanks to the more powerful engine, the car's load capacity also increased from 3320 kg to 3352 kg. The 3500 HD's towing capacity of 13,608 kg, again the most in the segment, remained intact.

The rest of the offered power units for both models also remained untouched. It all starts with a 5.7-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine with an output of 388 hp and a torque of 542 Nm in combination with a six-speed 66RFE automatic transmission. This is followed by a 6.4-liter eight-cylinder gasoline engine with a capacity of 416 hp with a torque of 582 Nm and three versions of a six-cylinder Cummins diesel with a capacity of 355 hp (torque of 895 Nm) with a six-speed manual, 375 hp (torque of 1085 Nm) with a six-speed automatic 68RFE and finally an upgraded version 390 horsepower with a six-speed Aisin automatic.
