Ram Heavy Duty 2500 & 3500 Pickups Introduced

The American car company RAM , which has been an independent division within the Chrysler concern since 2010, recently presented the modernization of its huge Heavy Duty 2500/3500 pick-up truck . It is mainly characterized by a new radiator grille, a modified shape of the front headlights and a new design of alloy wheels. But the facelift certainly does not end there.

The interior features a new automatic transmission selector, redesigned instrument panel and new upholstery. For example, the center console with a 115 V socket, the Alpine audio system with ten speakers or keyless entry and starting are new.

A pair of power units can be found under the huge front hood. The first one is the legendary eight-cylinder HEMI fork with a displacement of 5.7 liters tuned to an output of 286 kW (383 hp) and a torque of 542 Nm available from 3950 revolutions per minute. An alternative to this engine will be a 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel with six cylinders with variable blade geometry, which will be offered in three performance variants. The weakest version has a power of 261 kW (350 hp) and 881 Nm of torque, the middle version has a power of 276 kW (370 hp) and 1084 Nm of torque, and the top of the range will be 287 kW (385 hp) and a mammoth torque of 1152 Nm available from 1500 revolutions per minute.

Both variants, whose size must inspire fear in every European, are equipped with a ladder frame made of high-strength steel with a pair of parallel bars and eight cross members. There is also all-wheel drive with the option of turning off the front axle. Larger versions also have a double mount and leaf springs on the rear axle.
