PSA and Fiat showed a new form of large vans

The Jumper, Boxer and Ducato triplets are traditionally among the most successful models in the light commercial vehicle segment . The current generation was shown already in 2006 and, in addition to its transport values, it also impressed with its avant-garde design . Now the significantly modernized design of all three models is coming to the market, which has added elegance to the vans.

The entire front part is new with a different hood, headlights, radiator grille and bumper. Following the pattern of passenger cars, the vans mainly received LED daytime running lights (at an extra cost) that are integrated into the new main headlights, the radiator grille then becomes the main distinguishing sign in all three cases when it approaches the style of the brand in question. For example, Peugeot claims that the Boxer was inspired by the 308 series, while Fiat will offer it in two different versions . At the rear, new main lights and a revised third brake light will attract attention.

Similar to the outside, no stone was left unturned inside. The triplets have a new steering wheel that fits better in the hand, a more modern instrument panel and, above all, a completely new center console . On it, in the lower equipment, we can find a radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, from the 2nd level of equipment, you can also reach for a multimedia system with a five-inch touch screen , which is equipped with navigation, SMS reading or a rear parking camera for an additional fee. A tablet holder was also added to the list of extras.

Despite the modernization, the triplets have not lost any of their variability. There are four body lengths L1 (4.96 m), L2 (5.41 m), L3 (5.99 m) and L4 (6.36 m) to choose from, which is also related to the three wheelbases (3, 0 m, 3.45 m and 4.04 m) and three body heights H1 (2.25 m), H2 (2.52 m) and H3 (2.76 m). The cargo volume of the van ranges from 8 m 3 to 17 m 3 . In addition to the van , however, there is also a combined version for the transport of cargo and people, a purely personal version of the Combi for 5-9 passengers and a Minibus for 8-9 passengers (at Fiat, called Panorama), a flatbed with a three- or seven-seater cabin, bodies or versions for various modifications ( chassis, flatbeds, platforms).

In addition to the endless possibilities of combinations, all three automakers boast a record useful width of 187 cm and 142 cm between the wheel arches , a low load threshold from 493 to 602 mm, a maximum technically permissible weight from 3 to 4 tons or the opening of the rear doors at an angle of 96°, which can be thanks to the retractable rod, it can be increased to 180°, or up to 270° for an additional fee.

Under the hood of Peugeot and Citroën, we can find six HDi engines. The basic 2.2 HDi is available in a total of three power versions – 110 hp and 250 Nm, 130 hp and 320 Nm or 150 hp and 350 Nm. The most powerful is the 3.0 HDi unit with an output of 180 hp and a torque of 400 Nm. The most ecological versions are the e-HDi 130 and e-HDi 150 , which are equipped with a stop/start system as standard. All engines are equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and meet the Euro 5 emission standard, Peugeot also offers the option of conversion to all-wheel drive by Dangel .

Compared to PSA, Fiat has a slightly different range of engines. The base is a two-liter MultiJet II with a power of 115 hp with a torque of 280 Nm, the middle way is two versions of the 2.3 MultiJet II with a power of 130 hp with a torque of 320 Nm or 350 Nm and the top is a three-liter MultiJet II with a power of 180 hp with a torque of 400 Nm . Like its French siblings, Fiat will offer a six-speed manual transmission.
