A successor to the Honda S2000 is on the way

Honda wants to transform itself from a car company perceived as a manufacturer of practical cars back to the image of a manufacturer of driving and interesting cars. After the Civic Type-R , which is supposed to rule hot-hatches, the S660 , which is supposed to be a very sharp kei-car, and the new NSX , which is supposed to attract customers to established super sports, the successor of the legendary S2000 roadster should come.

Quite possibly, however, the successor to the S2000 could have an engine in the middle, just like the small S660 . The small S660 would be the basic sports model, the NSX would be the top of the range, and the successor to the S2000 would be placed between them. In Tochigi, where the car company's R&D Center is located, a meeting regarding the development of the new model has already taken place.

In appearance, the new car should be similar to its siblings – sharp lines, a prominent radiator grille and narrow headlights. A turbocharged two-liter from the next Civic Type-R with 350 horsepower would fit under the hood. In the S2000 , however, he could still be helped by hybrid technology. The all-wheel drive system could also come from the larger NSX . It could hit the market around 2017, while we'll see the NSX as early as next year, and the little S660 a year later.
