Porsche 911 Prototype with the engine in the middle

Porsche has released another video of its secret prototype. After the Audi V8 -powered 965 , the mid-engined 911 is now being introduced. At the same time, the 911 is a typical representative of cars with an engine located at the back, although this has often been criticized for an economy car. Looks like they really looked into the recalls at Porsche .

The truth is elsewhere, namely that it is a test mule that was used for the development of the Boxster type. All existing components moved into the body of the Porsche 964 Targa . The wide rear fenders and massive rear wing came from the Turbo version. The rear window is blacked out so that it is not obvious at first glance that the engine is located instead of the rear seats. As you can see, the prototype worked well, because we finally got the Boxster type and it was a great success for the automaker, so the roadster was soon complemented by the Cayman coupe. In addition, mid-engined supercars appeared – the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder . As for the 911 type, it didn't get the engine in the middle at the time. But that's not bad, is it?
