Peugeot is planning an offensive of sports models

Peugeot plans to strengthen its image and move to the upper levels of the market . It is not only a greater connection of successful activities in motorsport with road cars , but also an attack on several old records that will help him to do this.

From the road projects, we will first see a sharp version of the Peugeot 308 with the designation R , the concept of which we saw last year in Frankfurt and which is aimed at, for example, the Seat Leon Cupra , which is the current leader of the Nordschleife in the category of front-wheel drive cars. The second model will be a sporty version of the small crossover 2008 . This will benefit from the racing 2008 DKR , which will line up at the start of the famous Dakra next year.

Both projects should be built with the participation of the Peugeot Sport division , which takes care of the brand's racing activities. Since then, we can also expect alternative projects within a few years. One of them is the 208 HYbrid FE concept presented last year, which combined fuel saving with sporty elements.

However, the future of Peugeot will not only be about road cars. Already this year, the 208 T16 , which set a record in the famous Pikes Peak race last year, will line up at the start of the hill race as part of the Goodwood Festival of Speed . The goal is clear – to beat the record from 1999, which is held by German Nick Heidfeld in McLaren F1 with a time of 41.6 seconds.

But that's not all, because the foundations of the T16 could create a monster far beyond the borders of Goodwood. According to unconfirmed information, Peugeot is going to attack the absolute record of the legendary German circuit Nürburgring , which was set in 1983 by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 959 for Group C. That time has a value of 6 minutes 11.13 seconds.
