According to reports from the automaker, the sportier Peugeot 308 GT should appear at the end of this year. And this version is supposed to prepare the market for the arrival of the top model 308 R. The GT should also be available with a diesel engine, thus aiming to compete with the Octavia RS .
The petrol unit will be the proven 1.6 Turbo with 197 hp, known from the 208 GTi type. The diesel version should be powered by a two-liter BlueHDi with a power of 185 hp and a torque of 400 Nm. According to the representative of the car manufacturer, Gaetan Demoulin , the appearance will be distinguished by the two exhaust tips on the sides and the redesigned interior. In addition, the GT version will also be available with a station wagon body.
The GT version is not meant to compete with hot-hatch rulers such as the Golf GTI or Focus ST. The forthcoming version of the 308 R will compete with them. It is due to hit the market in 2015 and is being developed by the same department behind the RCZ R type. The 308 R could also share the 270 hp 1.6 Turbo engine with this coupe, possibly other parts such as shock absorbers, brakes and elements in the interior.
