The European premiere of the new Mazda 6 generation took place recently at the Russian Motor Show . However, the public premiere took place only now in Paris . The third edition of the Japanese flagship is redesigned from the ground up. The basic recognition element is the new design direction with sports genes KODO – Soul of Motion , which the Japanese brand really succeeded in. Even the technology deserved its overhaul, and new fuel-efficient engines and transmissions with SKYACTIV technologies will appear. Of course, there is also the most modern safety equipment, for example i-ELOOP (brake energy recovery).
The Mazda6 will reach European showrooms at the end of this year and will be offered with a total of three petrol and two diesel engines. The basic drive unit will probably be a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G gasoline atmospheric engine in two performance variants – 143 and 162 hp. A more powerful 2.5-liter gasoline four-cylinder squeezes out 189 horsepower. For diesel enthusiasts, the automaker has a 2.2-liter SKYACTIV-D engine with outputs of 147 and 173 horsepower. All engines will be connected to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, but only an automatic can be selected for the 2.5-liter engine.
The new Mazda6 will go on sale in the British Isles in January 2013, the price starts at 19,595 pounds (according to the current exchange rate, it works out to 614,000 crowns). I am very curious at what price it will enter the Czech market.
