Paris 2012 – Kia Carens III. generation

In order to get to the longest roots of the Kia Carens , I have to go back in my head to 1999. At that time, it was presented as a not quite good-looking and cool MPV. Therefore , three years later, the representatives of Kia lost their nerve and presented an extensively modernized facelift, which could be looked at even without squinting. However, 7 years is a very long time in the life of a car, so in 2006 it was the turn of the second generation. However, this too is already past its zenith and will soon make way for the new, modern Kia Carens of the third generation. The official premiere is scheduled for September 27 at 5:30 p.m.

Kia 's designers started with a clean sheet of paper for the new Carens . They wanted to meet the needs of modern families with a dynamic lifestyle. The car built on a completely new platform offers elegance with the design cues of the Picanto and Cee'd models, practically usable interior space, sleek aerodynamic shapes, a long wheelbase and up to seven seats for passengers.

A single photo of the interior is too damn little even for the moment, but we can at least get a rough idea. As with the new Cee'd, I appreciate the stylish and non-violent design and the visually pleasing and well-made materials (based on my experience with the new Cee'd). However, what the new Koreans cannot get rid of is the flood of buttons on the well-designed steering wheel.

Unfortunately, the official press release does not mention the powertrains that will be available for the Carens . We can therefore expect an offer of atmospheric GDI gasoline engines and economical CRDi diesel units with volumes of 1.6 liters and outputs from 66 to 99 kW. I wouldn't be surprised if the 1.7 CRDi unit from the Optima also appeared on sale.

In addition to the new Carens model, the brand new pro_cee'd will also be on display at the Kia exhibit at the Paris Motor Show , which will also celebrate its world premiere here. In addition to the two mentioned novelties, the new Optima Hybrid sedan with a two-liter engine, which promises a combination of performance and economy, and a modernized Sorento SUV with a 2.4-liter GDI gasoline engine with an output of 141 kW (192 hp) will be shown.
