Paris 2012 – Honda CR-Z 2013

The Japanese automaker showed a modernized CR-Z at the Paris International Motor Show. The compact sports coupe segment is expanding rapidly, which is why Honda returned to it in 2010 with the CR-Z model. The small coupe is considered a spiritual successor to the CR-X , but many rock fans disagree. The world premiere of the CR-Z took place earlier at the Indonesian Motor Show.

The upgrade includes a redesigned front fascia, bumper, LED daytime running lights, rear diffuser, cosmetic changes and two new exterior colors. Honda focused mainly on the engine compartment, where the hybrid system has its place. Under the hood is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that received improved variable valve timing; ECU unit and better crankshaft material. After all these changes, engine power increased from 112 to 119 horsepower.

The CR-Z will now also offer lithium-ion batteries in the electric motor, which have replaced nickel batteries and add about 20 horsepower to the output. The overall hybrid system will offer 135 horsepower and a torque of 190 Nm. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes exactly 9 seconds (an improvement of 0.7 seconds) and it reaches a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Combined consumption is 5 l/100 km and CO 2 emissions are 116 g/km.

If the batteries are at least half charged, through the S+ ( Sport Plus ) button on the steering wheel we get maximum support from both engines in acceleration for 10 seconds. Sales will begin in January 2013.
