Paris 2012 – Citroën DS3 ELECTRUM

The present in the motor industry and especially in the development of new cars can be characterized as the hybrid or electric era . Yes, those who want to follow the trends established by ecologists must have at least one representative of these categories in their menu. Skoda from Mladá Boleslav is also aware of this , which is already fiercely testing the electric Octávia , and in the future we will also see theelectric Golf VII. generation .

However, neither Citroën nor the entire PSA concern wants to be left behind. He was the first to put into series production hybrid models that are powered by a diesel engine and an electric motor. Even those, although they are very economical, emit unwanted emissions and are still tied to overpriced petrol pumps. Starting with the Paris Motor Show , however, that will change. In addition to the beautiful DS3 Cabrio concept , Citroën will present a fully electric version of the stylish hatchback here. It's called the DS3 ELECTRUM and it has great potential for mass production!

The DS3 ELECTRUM is powered by two 65 kW electric motors located on the front driven axle. The innovative approach to construction is responsible for more space inside the car and, in my opinion, also means certain measures to increase safety during an impact. The necessary energy is provided by a Panasonic lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 17.5 kWh. Thanks to this, the electric DS3 has a range of around 120 kilometers per charge, while the value can change depending on the load on internal appliances. The entry for the charger cable is hidden under the cap of the classic fuel tank, which does not disturb the design of the body. As with currently sold electric cars, it takes about half an hour to charge the battery to 80%. But for full capacity, you have to wait up to 6 hours, which should be solved by the infrastructure of fast chargers in the future.
