Opel Vivaro and Renault Trafic in more detail

March brought the first photos and also a handful of information about the new generation of Renault Trafic and Opel Vivaro twins. For a change, April is served by these twins again, but in a much more detailed performance .

We have already written about the bodywork in separate presentations of both models, but for the first time we can take a look at the interior of both vans. It is designed as a mobile office and offers up to 14 storage spaces with a total capacity of 90 liters. The instrument panel is based on the latest models of the Renault brand, the radio has its place on the center console, replaced by a multimedia system with a seven-inch screen in higher versions. New seats with greater lateral support and more anatomical shaping contribute to greater comfort. Thanks to the 36 mm lower driver's seat in combination with its more inclined backrest, the position behind the wheel is said to be even closer to that of a passenger car .

In the classic box version, Vivaro and Trafic are available in two lengths L1 (4999 mm) and L2 (5399 mm), two wheelbases L1 (3098 mm) and L2 (3498 mm) and two heights H1 (1971 mm) and H2 (2465 mm ). In the L1H1 version, the Vivaro or Trafic can accommodate 5.2 m 3 of cargo, in the L1H2 version it is 7.2 m 3 of cargo, in the L2H1 version 6.0 m 3 of cargo and finally in the L2H2 it is 8.6 m 3 of cargo. Thanks to two hatches (the first is located in the lower part of the bulkhead and the second under the passenger seat), both vans, with the doors closed, can accommodate an object up to 3.75 m long for the L1 version and 4.15 m for the L2 version. In addition to the box version, the menu also includes a flatbed, a chassis or a passenger version with a pair of side sliding doors. A total of 270 versions will be available!

Under the hood we find a total of four units – all of them are diesels, two of them have a single turbocharger and two have a pair of turbochargers. One turbo is offered by 16-litre diesels (for Renault dCi , for Opel CDTI ) with a power of 90 and 115 hp, respectively with a torque of 260 and 300 Nm. For the stronger of the pair, brands also indicate consumption – 6.5 l/100 km. Two turbochargers also offer 16- liters (at Renault with the designation Energy dCi Twin Turbo , at Opel CDTI BiTurbo ), but this time with a power of 120 and 140 hp, respectively with a torque of 320 and 340 Nm. The weaker unit has a consumption of 5.7 l/100 km (personal version 5.9/100 km), the stronger one 6.1 l/100 km.

At the end, we kept the topic of security assistants . In the menu of both models, we can find a reversing camera , which is located near the rear brake light in the upper part of the door or the lid of the cargo area and whose image is displayed in the interior rear-view mirror or, for versions with a multimedia system, on the navigation screen, hill start assistant or system Extended grip , which improves vehicle traction in demanding conditions.
