Opel plans to end sales in China and a pair of new models

After the departure of Chevrolet from the European market , General Motors is preparing another important step in strengthening Opel's European positions . The factory in Ruesselsheim will be modernized and ready for the production of two new models. The end of the Germans in China is also near.

The Ruesselsheim plant currently produces all versions of the Insignia and the Zafira Tourer , but production will expand to include two more models by the end of the decade. In order for this plan to be realized, Opel is investing a total of 245 million euros (approx. 6.7 billion CZK). We don't know anything about the first new model yet, and it will probably stay that way until the end of this year, if we could learn more. The second novelty will be an unspecified version of the Insignia . The Ruesselsheim plant will also produce a model that will be sold overseas as a Buick.

The second important news is the withdrawal of Opel from the Chinese market , valid from the beginning of next year. Last year, the German manufacturer sold only 4,365 vehicles here through 22 dealerships. By contrast, Buick , which sells, among other things, modified Opels in China, sold around 810,000 cars through 650 dealerships. Opel will thus focus on expanding cooperation with the American manufacturer to cars for the Chinese market.
