The new generation Opel Insignia will be presented in mid-2013

The news about the upcoming and modernized Opel Insignia model reached the public some time ago, and together with them we managed to capture the first images of the camouflaged car. Now, spy photographers have managed to obtain another set of photos of a camouflaged Insignia ST , and more detailed reports have also emerged about the car's possible appearance.

The first information said that the modernized Insignia will get a nose in the style of sister models Ampera or Zafira . However, now everything is different and according to the latest reports, the new Insignia should resemble the new Astra . In addition, the front part of the car will not be as radically redesigned as previously expected. According to official information, the car will only receive light modifications, mainly in the area of the radiator grille and also the front lights, which will be in the style of the current generation Opel Astra . Another important change will be the modified rear lights, which should consist of LEDs.

A completely new 1.6-liter turbodiesel will appear under the hood of the car, which, according to the plans of the Opel automaker, is supposed to replace the 1.7 CDTI engine. The new 1.6 unit will have the task of driving the car more economically and also with a quieter soundtrack.

In addition to the facelift of the sedan and ST versions, the top model Insignia OPC will also be upgraded. According to information from the British magazine Autocar, it should have a strengthened turbocharged 2.8 V6 engine , the power of which will attack the limit of 400 horsepower. 4×4 drive is a matter of course for the OPC version.

The presentation of the facelifted Insignia will take place at the spring motor show in Geneva, and sales of all upgraded versions will gradually start in the second half of 2013.
